Living With Invisalign Day to Day
Aligners fit into most routines with a few habits:
- Wear time is the whole game. Aligners work when they are in — around 20 to 22 hours a day. Out for meals, coffee and brushing; back in straight after.
- Eat whatever you like. Aligners come out for meals, so there are no food restrictions — a genuine everyday difference from fixed braces.
- Only water while wearing them. Hot or coloured drinks can warp or stain the plastic — take aligners out first.
- Keep them clean. Rinse with cool water and brush gently each time you remove them; never hot water.
- Expect brief pressure with each new set. A day or two of tenderness with each new aligner is normal — the sign your teeth are moving. It settles quickly.
- Suits teens and adults. Many aligner patients are adults who did not want visible braces at work; teen options with compliance indicators exist too.
