Suitability is assessed at a consultation. Factors that affect treatment planning include gum health, the amount of bone in the jaw, smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, and some medical conditions and medications. Where bone volume has reduced, grafting may be discussed as part of the plan.
Not everyone is suitable for implant treatment, and no recommendation is made until you have been examined and your CBCT scan has been reviewed.

IV sedation for anxious patients
If the idea of dental surgery is daunting, IV sedation is available for eligible patients having implant treatment.
You remain conscious but deeply relaxed, and many people have little memory of the procedure afterwards. A sedation dentist monitors you throughout the appointment. Sedation may be considered if you experience dental anxiety, are having multiple implants or a longer appointment, or have a strong gag reflex.
Suitability for sedation is assessed at your consultation and depends on your medical history.
